A clearer starting point, not a final answer
FinanceBase exists to turn common financial questions into calculations you can inspect. Each interactive tool is paired with its formula, timing assumptions, examples and exclusions. Current economic observations identify the producing agency, series, unit and observation date. The calculators are free to use and do not require an account.
A calculator can organize assumptions, but it cannot know your complete tax return, risk tolerance, cash-flow needs or legal obligations. Results are educational scenarios for further investigation—not personalized financial, investment, tax or legal advice.
Who is behind the site
The FinanceBase operator has chosen to remain anonymous. Content is therefore attributed to FinanceBase as an organization, not to an invented individual, and the site does not claim unnamed qualifications or professional experience. Questions and corrections can be sent to [email protected].
Readers should judge each page by the evidence available on the page: reproducible arithmetic, links to primary sources, explicit dates, disclosed exclusions and conservative language. The absence of a public credentialed byline remains a material limitation, particularly for tax and investing topics.

How FinanceBase tries to earn trust
Show the math
Calculator pages state the formula and explain contribution timing, rounding and edge cases such as a zero return.
Prefer primary sources
Tax figures link to the IRS. Current macro observations come directly from the Treasury, New York Fed and BLS. Federal Reserve releases link back to the Board.
Keep dates meaningful
An observation date describes the underlying value. A retrieval or review date describes when the site checked it. Those dates are not treated as interchangeable.
Preserve honest fallbacks
A dated, validated snapshot is included in the page HTML. If a later data request fails, that snapshot remains visible instead of becoming an empty or fabricated result.
Separate scenarios from forecasts
Compound, DCA and FIRE results use constant assumptions. Technical-indicator labels describe entered readings and do not predict a return.
State what is missing
Known exclusions sit beside the result. FinanceBase does not publish equity or cryptocurrency quotes until a suitable redistribution-licensed source is configured.
What FinanceBase currently publishes
- Compound interest and dollar-cost averaging scenarios with explicit monthly contribution timing.
- A deterministic FIRE planning calculator using a real-return assumption and an initial withdrawal-rate target.
- A simplified 2025 federal income tax estimate based on official IRS brackets and the basic standard deduction.
- A technical signal evaluator for user-entered RSI, MACD and 200-day-average readings. It does not claim to calculate or stream market prices.
- A dated U.S. macro dashboard covering EFFR, CPI inflation, unemployment and the Treasury 10-year-minus-2-year spread.

Corrections and feedback
Financial data and tax guidance can be revised, and software can contain errors. If a value, formula, date, link or explanation appears wrong, report the page, the disputed statement and a primary source through the contact page. A correction should change the affected content and its last-updated date; it should not be hidden behind a client-only update.
